Research Administration (RA) provides institutional oversight for the University’s research and sponsored projects portfolio; we review, endorse, negotiate and accept agreements, contracts, and awards; verify and track compliance with the funding agency’s award terms and conditions and issue subawards on behalf of the University. The RA team collaborates with our partners across the University to provide support to investigators and college/departmental administrators on a variety of complex matters, ranging from proposal review and submission, contract negotiation, award acceptance to non-financial award management, and reporting closeouts. In conjunction with Research Compliance and Research Finance, RA offers a range of outreach and training sessions for the Northeastern research community.
The NU-RES Hub team provides direct administrative and financial management services to investigators and administrators for schools and institutes that do not have dedicated research administrators.
The eRA Systems & Data Support team supports all electronic Research Administration (eRA). The team provides technical support and training for ePAWs, eCD, and eCLAWs; project management of NU-RES Kaizen process improvement initiatives; maintains the NU-RES website; offers sponsored research and projects data and systems consults and prepares operational and strategic reports for the NU-RES and University leadership teams.

Research Compliance (RC) was formed in 2016 and is charged with providing resources and support to execute externally funded research in compliance with applicable regulations. Research Compliance team provides support on a variety of complex matters ranging from export control questions and financial conflicts of interest, to hosting the Responsible Conduct of Research Workshops, supporting the research oversight committees, and helping faculty navigate complex regulatory questions and applicable disclosures.

Research Finance (RF) performs post-award financial monitoring on sponsored projects for the University in compliance with funding agency and Northeastern policies. The team provides support to the research community on various activities such as Banner account setups, financial reporting, monitoring of financial transactions, invoicing/draws, cash management, audits, and training and education.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) The Northeastern University IACUC (NU-IACUC) serves as an advisory committee to the Office of the President on matters concerning the humane and ethical care of laboratory animals, adequacy of animal facilities, animal health, and occupational and student health as related to animal diseases. The NU-IACUC operates in accordance with guidelines specified in the USDA Animal Welfare Act, Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and internal policies and guidelines approved by the committee.
