Temporary restraining order on NIH plans to cut funding

On February 10, Judge Angel Kelley of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts issued a temporary restraining order on the National Institutes of Health’s plan to reduce research funding in 22 states. The states had filed a lawsuit earlier in the day, claiming that the funding cuts would severely undermine studies on treatments for cancer, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, and various other illnesses.
