Northeastern University’s Center for Inclusive Computing (CIC) received a grant from Pivotal

Northeastern University’s Center for Inclusive Computing (CIC) received a significant grant from Pivotal, Melinda French Gates’ organization, as part of a $150 million commitment to support women in the workplace and address the demand for technical talent in AI. The grant will help CIC expand AI and computing education nationally, benefiting women and underrepresented populations. Since its launch in 2019, CIC has partnered with 97 colleges and universities to address inequities in computer science education. The grant recognizes Northeastern’s leadership in breaking down barriers that have historically excluded women and underrepresented populations from accessing computing education. CIC’s partner institutions represent 23.3% of all students earning an undergraduate computing degree in 2023, and the grant will further expand inclusive computing education and address the rise of AI.
