Multifactor authentication (MFA) is required to sign into Research.gov
Starting October 27, 2024, the NSF introduced multifactor authentication (MFA) for Research.gov. This measure is part of their ongoing efforts to boost security and protect NSF’s IT systems, user accounts, personal and scientific data, and the integrity of the merit review process. This additional security step benefits both the research community and NSF. For more information, refer to the Dear Colleague Letter (NSF 25-011) and the MFA Options Overview.
